I’ve been to HK airport countless times but had always overlooked the canteen. Today, with extra time on my hands and nothing else left to explore, I decided to give it a try. There was a long queue, and I paid for the most expensive combo, which was still quite cheap. After paying, I joined yet another line—so many people, raising my expectations. The service was good, and I was excited. Then came the first sip of coffee… oh snap! It was terrible. This was my first coffee in months; I’d been avoiding it in India because it’s usually instant coffee. And here we go again. But hey! Can’t complain at this price—it’s a canteen after all. The rest of the food was okay. I reminded myself it’s early morning, it’s a canteen, and the price was great. Well, except for the coffee.
Moving on, I had another coffee later, this time from Costa before boarding, but it wasn’t much better. Definitely not my coffee day.
On a brighter note, I did some sketching on my iPad, practicing with people as references. I think it turned out well. I’d already decided to skip the airplane meal, one of my better decisions of the day.
